It was a serendipitous meeting that bought Caparao coffees and Heartland together.
Evaldo and Erica, a Brazilian couple with a long family history of coffee farming in Brazil and now living in Portugal, were visiting family in North Wales. Informed of our coffee roastery 'just around the corner' they were eager to pay us a visit and just happened to have coffee samples with them. An impromptu cupping session ensued.
When Heartland tasted their Bela Vista Lot#11 we knew it would be the first of their Caparao coffees.
Coffee grower, Alexandre Emerich, was born and raised in Rio de Janeiro and moved to Alto Caparaó at the age of 18. He is a producer of specialty coffees at Sítio Bela Vista, which has approximately 50,000 coffee trees spanning 18Ha of production. Alexandre manages the farm with the help of his son Marcus.
Heartland are looking forward to developing the relationship with Caparao and bringing more unique and distinctly flavoured Brazilian coffees to the UK.
And the tasting notes...just for you ducky!
Big Fruity notes of Banana, Cream & Maple Syrup Sweetness, with a Red Berry Acidity... Golly Jolly!!
