OL18 gets you into southern Snowdonia, with quieter (but lower) mountains, and mysterious and occasionally romantically misty valleys.
Ordnance Survey's Active maps are the chunkier laminated versions of their standard paper maps. They are heavier and bulkier than the paper versions - but are obviously waterproof - and last a good deal longer. So if weight is not a problem they are the ones to go for!
