Thirty easily accessible, done in a day, winter mountain journeys.

Another wonderful book by long term local North Wales resident, author and hairy headed legend Garry Smith.

A book for anyone who loves the Scottish mountains. The selected journeys are spread throughout the Highlands and in distinctly different ranges such as the Cairngorms, Glencoe, Torridon and the Cullin of Skye. Each journey is described in detail along with some background information on the local hills. Although not an instructional book, there is some basic advice about the skills, clothing and safety equipment needed for a day out in the winter mountains.

None of the book’s images involved using a drone – every photo has that vital human perspective and has been taken from a mountain location you can actually visit. This was a concious decision from the start, to keep the book ‘real’.

Each journey is drawn onto a bespoke map, these are super accurate and to scale. The route descriptions are written so as to tie in with the information given on 1:50,000 Ordnance Survey Maps and Harvey’s Mountain Maps. Grid references are supplied for all important navigational points.
